About the event

Warrior Sailing (WarriorSailing.org ) is a nationwide program that teaches wounded, ill and injured veterans how to sail. Veterans with disabilities often experience isolation, loss of purpose, and diminished mental/physical well-being. Sailing integrates physical rehab, cognitive engagement, and social connection. It is a holistic activity that develops strength, balance, coordination, and endurance. It demands focus, teamwork, and problem-solving. The immersion in the nature, disconnected from issues faced on land provides the perfect opportunity to decompress and connect with others. Being on a small team, working towards a common goal; it is group therapy but if we called it that, nobody would show up, so we sail! 42 Wounded, ill and injured veterans have learned how to sail at the FWBC Basic Training Camps thanks to the Starboard Foundation. We are extremely grateful for the support which helps cover lodging, transportation, coaching, meals and supplies so that the veterans attending don’t need to…
